What This Site Is

Lanternfly Watch is a free community information resource about Spotted Lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula). We provide educational content, GDD-based phenology data, community event listings, product recommendations, and a newsletter. We are not affiliated with any government agency, university extension service, or pest control company.

No Warranty on Pest Control Advice

The action guides, product recommendations, and GDD data on this site are provided for informational purposes. Results vary by location, timing, infestation level, and execution. We make no guarantees that following our advice will eliminate Spotted Lanternfly from your property.

Pesticide use: Always read and follow pesticide label instructions. The label is the law. Our product guides are educational summaries — they do not replace the manufacturer's label. You are responsible for complying with all federal, state, and local pesticide regulations.

Sighting Reports

By submitting a sighting report, you grant Lanternfly Watch a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and use that report data (location, life stage, count) on the site map and in aggregated statistics. We will not publish your personal identifying information alongside your report. You represent that sighting reports you submit are accurate to the best of your knowledge.

GDD Data Accuracy

Growing Degree Day (GDD) data is computed from Open-Meteo historical weather records using the Penn State SLF phenology model. This data is provided as a practical guide to life stage timing — it is not a substitute for direct observation. Local microclimates, urban heat islands, and elevation differences may cause actual SLF emergence to vary from model predictions.

Intellectual Property

The content on this site (text, design, graphics) is owned by Lanternfly Watch. You may share links to our content freely. You may not reproduce substantial portions of our content on other websites without permission. Screenshots of sighting maps and GDD widgets may be shared on social media with attribution.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lanternfly Watch is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content, including but not limited to property damage from pesticide misuse or crop losses from SLF infestation.

Changes
